Arsenal are reportedly targeting KAA Gent striker, Roman Yaremchuk.
Gunners technical director, Edu Gaspar is looking to strike a cut-price deal for the 25-year-old.
Sources claim that suitable offers will be entertained for the player. Anything below the £20m mark won’t do. Yaremchuk’s contract is due to run until June 2025. Gent are in a strong position regarding the player but is he what Arsenal need at this moment?
Arsenal just invested heavily in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s future and also have Alexandre Lacazette on the books. The latter could leave following this season but he has been performing extremely well since the start of the year.
Yaremchuk is a different profile of player than any of the current Arsenal strikers. He stands tall at 6’3″ and has a definite aerial presence. He is also technically adept, capable of holding up the ball and bringing teammates into the attack. The last player to command these qualities were Olivier Giroud but he never could meet Arsenal’s standards in the long term.
There is no saying Yaremchuk will meet the same fate but chasing after him seems pointless at this moment. Arsenal need improvements in other key areas. Plus, they have two budding youngsters in Gabriel Martinelli and Folarin Balogun who can serve as Aubameyang’s backup if Lacazette were to leave.
