First team manager

Arsenal first team manager Unai EmeryUnai Emery is Arsenal’s current manager. The 47-year-old took charge of the Gunners in 2018 shortly after Arsene Wenger bid goodbye to the Emirates.

Introduction Into Management

The Spaniard started his managerial career with Lorca Deportiva, the club he last played for as a professional footballer.

He suffered a critical knee injury at the time which ultimately ended his playing career. The club’s president offered him the managerial position and he immediately saw the club through a promotion to the second division for the first time in the club’s history.

Emery later moved on to Almeria and helped them overachieve as well. He turned Valencia into a solid title challenging side in the La Liga during his 4 years with the side.

Experience

He spent a short stint at Spartak Moscow before being recalled back to Spain in what became his most successful period as a manager. Emery went on to win the UEFA Europa League three years in a row with the Red and Whites.

Paris Saint-Germain

Paris Saint-Germain came calling in 2016 and the 47-year-old agreed to leave Sevilla for the Ligue 1 giants.

He could never settle into the star culture at the Parc des Princes and was eventually fired from the job after seeing the team through a league title and four Cup trophies. He maintained his highest win percentage of over 76% during his time with PSG.

Now Emery has stationed himself at North London, having already brought in six players that he likes and is chasing a top-four finish in his debut season.
