David Ospina out on loan at SSC Napoli
Ospina arrived at the Emirates in 2014 from Ligue 1 outfit, Nice. He has mostly been restricted to the number two spot during his Arsenal career, having made just 28 League appearances for the side.
He left for Napoli in the summer of 2018 after Bernd Leno’s introduction into the North London outfit. With Petr Cech also in the lineup, it was evident that the Colombian would not be privy to much playing time under Unai Emery.
However, with Cech announcing his retirement right after the 2018/19 campaign, Ospina could be recalled back by Emery to fill up the 36-year-old’s spot. Reports claimed that Arsenal have sent their goalkeeper coach to check up on Ospina for a possible move back to the Emirates next summer. If Napoli want to keep him permanently, they will have to shell out €7m.
Emiliano Martinez out on loan at Reading
Emiliano Martinez has also been touted to serve as a replacement for Petr Cech from the 2019/20 season. The Argentine graduated from the Gunners youth academy but could never really establish himself as a dependable figure in the senior squad.
He has various loan spells with Wolves, Rotherham United, Getafe, Sheffield Wednesday and Oxford United prior to his move to Reading FC.
He has made 4 appearances in the Championship this term and is eager to stake his claim at Emirates next term.
Matt Macey out on loan at Plymouth Argyle
Matt Macey is another goalkeeper on Arsenal’s on-loan list who is currently playing for the League One outfit. He has maintained 4 clean-sheets in 28 appearances this season while also letting in 51 goals.
Standing at 6 feet 6 inches tall, he showed a lot of promise coming out of the Gunners academy but has to still prove himself to Unai Emery. He previously spent time with Accrington Stanley and Lutton Town.
Calum Chambers out on loan at Fulham
With Arsenal facing so many issues in defence, it was interesting to note that Calum Chambers was not recalled from loan in the January transfer window.
The Englishman was signed from Southampton in 2014 for around £16m. He could never live up to his expectations as a rising young defender and had to be sent out on loan for further development.
Now the 24-year-old has made over 20 appearances for a relegation-riddled Cottagers side. He has played in various roles under Claudio Ranieri, both as a centre-half and as a defensive midfielder.
Krystian Bielik out on loan at Charlton Athletic
The 21-year-old was signed from Legia Warsaw for £2.4m back in 2015. He made just 2 appearances for Arsenal’s senior squad and spent time away from the club with Birmingham City and Walsall.
He is expected to be sold off following the 2018/19 campaign.
Takumo Asano out on loan at Hannover 96
17-time Japanese international, Takumo Asano is currently spending his third season in Germany. He spent the past two terms with Vfb Stuttgart and has made 11 appearances this season.
Standing at 5 feet 8 inches tall, he operates as a striker. His deal with the Bundesliga outfit is set to last till the summer of 2020.
Reiss Nelson out on loan at TSG Hoffenheim
Reiss Nelson has been terrific for Hoffenheim this season, scoring 7 goals in 21 appearances. He is currently excelling in the Bundesliga with his attacking prowess and scoring instinct.
The youngster has pace and skill to beat defenders at will. Arsenal are currently understaffed in the wing department and plenty of the club’s fans are rooting for the 19-year-old to fill up one of the vacant spots next season.
Emile Smith-Rowe out on loan at RB Leipzig
Smith-Rowe was sent out on loan to Leipzig in the January transfer window. With Arsenal getting knocked out of domestic cup competitions and the race to the top-four heating up, it was expected that the attacking midfielder would not enjoy much playing time despite impressing in the first half of the campaign.
At only 17 years old, he has scored 4 goals for the Arsenal senior squad in just 6 appearances this season. He has quickly earned the recognition of the Arsenal faithful and is being heavily supported on his spell away with the Bundesliga outfit.
Arsenal Players Loaned In From Other Clubs
Denis Suarez on loan at Arsenal from Barcelona
After a lot of back and forth with Barcelona in the 2019 January transfer window, Emery finally succeeded in bringing in Denis Suarez for the remainder of the 2018/19 season.
He is set to return to the Camp Nou in July 2019 with no guarantee of a buy-back clause.
