The Gunners secured their first away win against Liverpool in 13 attempts, with Kai Havertz scoring the decisive goal in a 1-0 triumph on Sunday.

Rice played a pivotal role in the winner, threading a superb defence-splitting cross that carved open the Liverpool backline.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the match, Carragher did not hold back in his admiration for the 27-year-old.

“He’s the best midfield player in the Premier League by a long way,” the former defender stated.

“It’s not even a debate. Declan Rice is the best midfield player in this country.”

Carragher expressed frustration with those who question Rice’s abilities, adding:

“I’m sort of flabbergasted that they don’t understand football and they’re not watching the same game as me.

He’s a world-class midfield player. There’s absolutely no doubt about it.”

Rice, who received an 8/10 rating from other outlets, recorded 62 touches and completed 38 passes against Liverpool.

He also won five duels while contributing three recoveries, two clearances and two tackles.

The England international has now registered five league assists this season the first player to reach that markand remarkably, none have come from set pieces.

The victory propels Arsenal three points clear at the top of the table after nine matches.

The club now turns its attention to Wednesday’s Champions League clash at Slavia Prague, where Rice may be rested following his tireless display on Merseyside.
