Arteta pointed to Arsenal’s growing maturity as key factor for title race

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed he is compiling a “massive storage of images” showing rival Premier League bosses breaking touchline regulations after he received his second yellow card of the season.

Arteta: I’m Clipping Every Rival Manager Who Leaves the Touchline

The Spaniard was cautioned by referee Tony Harrington during Arsenal’s heated 2-0 victory over Everton on Saturday.

Goals from Ezri Konsa and Gabriel Magalhaes secured the win, which moved the Gunners level on points with league leaders Manchester City following their shock 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa.

Everton manager David Moyes and Arteta’s assistant Gabriel Heinze also received yellow cards during the ill-tempered contest.

However, Arteta insisted officials treat him more harshly than his counterparts and pointed to other managers who repeatedly leave their technical areas without punishment.

“There are managers that have the record in the league — 36 times in 10 minutes leaving the touchline, no yellows,” Arteta told reporters.

“So I’m clipping all of that. I have a massive storage of images.”

The Arsenal boss has built a reputation for his animated presence on the touchline and frequently exits his designated technical area despite regulations prohibiting it.

He now faces a one-match touchline ban if he collects a third yellow card of the campaign.

Arteta acknowledged he must control his behaviour and joked about needing technology to keep him in check.

“I do have to be careful,” he admitted. “And we need to have good sensors there.”

The comments add another layer of intrigue to the ongoing debate about consistency in officiating decisions, with Arteta clearly suggesting he receives different treatment from referees compared to other Premier League managers.
