Ajax youngster, Matthijs de Ligt is on the wishlist of quite a few European clubs and Unai Emery should strongly consider him in his Janauary plans.
Barcelona are currently leading the race, followed closely by Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City, according to Ajax sporting director, Marc Overmars.
Emery has already revealed strong intentions of making more additions to the squad next month, especially to the centre-back and wing positions. A scarcity of defenders somehow ended Arsenal’s unbeaten run of 22 games last week, when Southampton beat them 3-2 at the St Mary’s on Sunday.
de Ligt is a magnetic talent with all the right traits to succeed in the big stage. He is only 19 years old and had already proven himself in the European stage. The centre-back beat out Trent Alexandre Arnold, Justin Kluivert, Vinicius Junior and Patrick Cutrone to the 2018 Golden Boy award.
de Ligt is not only exceptional on the ball he is also mature enough to deal with quality opposition. He could provide Emery with a massive advantage of playing out from the back while also adding some flair into the defence.
Arsenal are trying to make their way into the top four of Premier League but are currently 3 points behind. de Ligt could turn out to be a major factor in the club’s future, should Emery be given the money to pursue him.
