Mesut Ozil’s Arsenal career has been plummetting towards a tragic end this past season and the Europa League final might have been the final blow.
Not only was the German shamefully poor during the Gunners’ 4-1 defeat to Chelsea, but he was also reported to have mentioned a few words to Unai Emery that could force him out of the Emirates.
Ozil reportedly told the Spanish boss, “You are not a coach,” on Thursday night whilst the match was still going on. Emery had decided to substitute the playmaker for a more impactful Joe Willock in the 70th minute of the match and Ozil was noticed walking back to his benches, murmuring to himself in disagreement.
Such has been the case all year round between him and Emery but no one expected the 30-year-old to lash out at the manager like this. There is no excuse for the German’s behaviour and he quite rightfully deserves to be shown the exit door if the incident is true.
Ozil’s relationship with the North Londoners is believed to be strained after the performances he put up recently. He quite clearly is a mismatch in Emery’s system, a coach Arsenal want to continue working with for a long time.
With the midfielder’s sky-high wages, it will be quite difficult to pick up a seller this summer.
