Ramsdale, 25, has missed Arsenal’s previous two games in favour of Raya, which has led to reports that Chelsea may be interested in signing him during the January transfer window.
From the time of his arrival until this season, Aaron Ramsdale, who came to Arsenal from Sheffield United in 2021, was consistently the team’s first-choice custodian.
In the last two games for the Gunners, David Raya, a 28-year-old Brentford loanee, took his place. Arsenal has an option to buy Raya for £27 million at the end of the current campaign as part of the loan agreement.
The manager of Arsenal, Mikel Arteta, has not yet said who his favourite custodian will be, but Raya’s recent performances for the club, including victories over PSV Eindhoven and Everton by a combined score of 1-0, increase the likelihood that he will be bought.
Ramsdale’s status change has sparked speculation that Chelsea would be interested in acquiring the custodian in the January transfer window. Ramsdale “will not rush into a decision” over a prospective departure from Emirates Stadium.
