Football superagent, Kia Joorbichan has slammed Arsenal’s former sporting director, Sven Mislintat in his latest press interview.
After a growing notion that his connections are what is leading the Gunners’ recruitment process, Joorbichan answered back by talking about the club’s past deals.
He shifted most the blame onto Mislintat, who was in charge of Arsenal’s recruitment for two years before leaving for Stuttgart in 2018. Upon his departure, the German outlined Arsenal as “dysfunctional” and “an absolute mess”. He even cited growing influences of agents as the major disrupting factor between him and the club’s hierarchy. Mislintat was responsible for the signings of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Bernd Leno, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Sokratis, Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira.
Joorbichan pointed out that all of Mislintat’s work was not foolproof as he said, “People forget about the previous guy, Sven. He made a bunch of, I don’t like to use the word, but, cock-ups with players he brought in at very, very large numbers.”
Of course, fans are wary of how Arsenal are going about their entire recruitment strategy. Add to that the sacking of senior scouts, paints a very scary picture on how the club is recognizing future talent. If all signings were to be made based on agent connections, one would question the legitimacy of the player’s actual talent.
When questioned about Philippe Coutinho’s links to Arsenal, Joorbichan said, “At the moment, with Coutinho, he is so focused on getting through the next stage of the Champions League.
“He has got a massive game – the club that owns him against the club he is playing for. So he is in a massive situation at the moment. He is going to play Barcelona, he is looking forward to it. He is looking forward to winning the Champions League. I think (Bayern) have a side that has the potential to be there, definitely a potential to be there.
“And I think after the Champions League is finished, and whatever happens, then we will sit down. I haven’t even spoken to him about it actually. It could be that Barcelona is the ultimate destination. He loves the Premier League, he wants to come to the Premier League, but finances and the numbers and the situation of COVID are all going to play a big part, because he is a big player with big numbers.”
