Arsenal started off brilliantly two decades back under a new manager called Arsene Wenger. However, with time the success waned and Arsenal were struggling to get into Europe, let alone dominate it.

It so happened that despite such mediocrity, Wenger stayed at the club for 22 years before leaving the club last year. He was replaced by Unai Emery, the former PSG and Sevilla boss who has won several European trophies.

Emery was brought back and told that his objective was nothing too high like winning the Premier League as it is beyond their financial capacity at the moment apparently. However, one crucial thing the club was unwilling to negotiate on was the fact that he must deliver Champions League football.

Getting into CL itself guarantees a lot more money and a higher status. Hence now at the end of the season, having missed out on a top four, Arsenal’s last hope of making to next season’s CL is winning the Europa League final at the end of this month.

They will be up against Chelsea and now they have been handed a major boss by Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso who has said that Chelsea’s on-song midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek suffered a nasty injury which means he is likely to miss the Europa League final against the Gunners.
