Amadou Diawara’s agent has confirmed Arsenal interest in the midfielder.
Speaking to Tuttomercatoweb, Daniele Piraino admitted that several clubs were after his client this summer, one of them being Arsenal.
Previous reports claimed that Arsenal tried to swap out Lucas Torreira with Diawara but had their offer rejected. Now, it seems like they are pondering a straight cash deal worth around £27 million. That would be possible, however, if they manage to offload Torreira or Matteo Guendouzi for a similar sum.
Piraino said, “Diawara is at a top club like Roma, where he is happy, as there is enthusiasm around the new owners. However, he is also liked by many clubs in England, including Arsenal. Being linked with certain clubs is pleasing for him, as these are prestigious sides. Amadou is concentrated on football and his career.”
Diawara is still only 23 and no doubt, a top talent. He has enjoyed an impressive campaign with Roma and has shown great progress over the last few seasons. Will he be an able alternative to Thomas Partey? Possibly but fans would still be rooting for the signing of Atletico Madrid’s top enforcer. Reports suggest that Arsenal have not given up on signing Partey just yet but are lining up able replacements, just in case.
