Arsenal’s £17m bid for Ferdi Kadioglu rejected
Arsenal’s summer transfer window hit another snag as their £17 million bid for Ferdi Kadioglu has been turned down. The versatile Fenerbahce defender has caught the eye of Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar, but their initial offer fell short of the Turkish club’s expectations.
Kadioglu, currently showcasing his skills at Euro 2024, has been a standout performer for Turkey. His impressive display in Turkey’s 3-1 victory over Georgia highlighted his adeptness as an inverted full-back, a role he excels in with his quick footwork and ability to maneuver through tight spaces.
Despite already having a wealth of options at left-back, including Oleksandr Zinchenko and the adaptable Takehiro Tomiyasu, Arteta seems determined to bolster this position further.
Kadioglu’s versatility, capable of operating on both flanks and even in midfield, makes him an attractive prospect for the Gunners.
However, Fenerbahce president Ali Koc has made it clear that Arsenal’s offer does not meet the club’s valuation. Borussia Dortmund’s £21 million bid was also rebuffed, with Koc holding out for a figure between £30 million and £34 million.
This rejection puts Arsenal in a tough spot. With the transfer window ticking away, Arteta and his team must decide whether to up their offer or pivot to other targets. Meanwhile, Kadioglu’s growing list of admirers, including West Ham United, only adds to the pressure.
Kadioglu’s playing style has drawn comparisons to Manchester City’s Jack Grealish. His low socks and shuffling dribbles through defenses have impressed scouts and fans alike.
Whether Arsenal can meet Fenerbahce’s demands remains to be seen, but the 24-year-old’s potential addition would undoubtedly be a significant coup for the North London club.
