Arsenal agreed personal terms with Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori

Riccardo Calafiori will see his contract expire in the summer of 2027.

Arsenal have reportedly agreed personal terms with Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori. The Italian centre-back is attracting interest from top European clubs after his debut season as a Bologna player.

Calafiori completed a move from Basel last summer and established himself as a regular fixture in the Bologna side. He appeared in 30 of the club’s 38 Serie A matches.

The 22-year-old will see his contract expire in the summer of 2027. He is one of the best defenders in Serie A and helped his club earn Champions League qualification last season.

Chelsea and Juventus are also in the race to get the signature of the Italy international. Arsenal are now the frontrunners to sign him. As per journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners have taken significant steps in their pursuit and reached an agreement with the Italian over personal terms.

The North London club have agreed terms over a long-term contract. They might tie him down until June 2029. Bologna are believed to be holding out for €50m for their player. It will be their second summer signing after David Raya who has been signed permanently.
