Despite rumors that Joan Garcia had reached a personal terms agreement with Arsenal, Espanyol manager Manolo Gonzalez has stated that he does not want to lose the goalkeeper. In the event that second-choice goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale departs the team, the 23-year-old has been mentioned as a potential target for the Gunners. After David Raya joined the team from Brentford last summer and was not used as a substitute in their opening two Premier League games, Ramsdale lost his spot as the team’s number one.

Southampton’s interest in García has increased after Fabrizio Romano disclosed that Arsenal and Southampton had agreed to sell Ramsdale for approximately 28–29 million euros. But as club insiders have made plain, they would not bargain at a price lower than the thirty million euros that the goalkeeper’s release clause demands. On the other side, Joan García would be amenable to a move to Arsenal, which would mark a big advancement in his employment.

Arsenal to launch Joan Garcia move

Following their Wednesday night agreement to acquire Ramsdale from Southampton, which saw the newly promoted Saints pay an upfront £18 million plus a further £1 million contingent on their Premier League survival this season, Arsenal will now move quickly to acquire Garcia. The deal might ultimately be valued at approximately £25 million with additional add-ons.

As their backup goalkeeper behind first-choice David Raya, who completed a permanent £27 million switch from London rivals Brentford earlier this summer after a successful season-long loan at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal also wants to bring in another homegrown player, possibly Garcia, given that Karl Hein joined Spanish side Rayo Vallecano on loan earlier this month and Arthur Okonkwo signed with Wrexham after his contract expired.
