The Gunners are preparing to offload the German on loan this winter but demand for his signature has been low.
That might owe to the fact that he earns an eye-watering £350,000 per week at North London – the highest wages in the entire Premier League.
Ozil was once again left out of the Arsenal squad in the 1-1 draw against Manchester United on Monday night. This came right after him sporting the captain’s armband in the 5-0 thumping of Nottingham Forest the previous Tuesday.
It is no secret that he is not favoured by Unai Emery but has he turned into a complete outcast at the Emirates? Ozil continues to show his allegiance to the club despite not getting picked week after week.
The German has remained patient with his circumstances as he continues to cash in a mammoth salary each week. He has done very little on the pitch to change Emery’s mind with Per Mertesacker also admitting that his compatriot might not even be fully fit.
This has led to other teams losing faith in the 30-year-old, who was once hailed as the best playmaker in Europe. Reports claim that Arsenal are desperate to get him off their wage books, even if they have to pay part of his salary.
Daily Mail states that Ozil will ride out the remainder of the season in Arsenal colours since no club is ready to take on the baggage he brings with him.
