Arsenal Are Back To Fighting For Adrien Rabiot

Arsenal are back in the race for Adrien Rabiot once again as the Frenchman’s exit from Juventus draws nearer.

The Gunners were heavily linked with Rabiot when he came into odds with his previous employers, PSG.

Unai Emery wanted to bring in the midfielder on a free transfer but Juventus ended up winning that race. However, the 25-year-old’s move to Turin has not been a grand success. Limited to just 11 starts in the Serie A, he is ready to call it quits and move elsewhere. Transfermarkt values him at £22.5 million in the current market which might be in Arsenal’s budget for this summer.

Mikel Arteta has reportedly been told to look for free agent and low profile signings. Prominent names like Thomas Partey and Dayot Upamecano will be hard to tie down with the ongoing health and financial crisis. Rabiot might also be the player well suited to Arteta’s style of play.

He is good at distributing the ball across the pitch and also decent on the defensive end. Some would even consider him as an improvement to Granit Xhaka or possibly a like-for-like replacement. Arsenal definitely will need reinforcements in midfield if they plan on fighting for Champions League football next season.

The current lineup lacks creativity and will even more so, once Dani Ceballos goes back to Real Madrid. Arteta needs more options than just Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi, Granit Xhaka, Joe Willock and an ageing Mesut Ozil.
