Arsenal is considering a potential deal to sign Lee Kang-In, a forward for Paris Saint-Germain who is currently out of favor. Lee joined PSG in 2023 with high expectations after leaving La Liga team Mallorca, where he had two impressive seasons.

However, Lee has had difficulty securing a consistent starting position under Luis Enrique and is considered surplus to requirements in Paris ahead of the summer transfer window. Two years ago, Andrea Berta, Arsenal’s recently appointed sporting director, attempted and failed to sign Lee for Atletico Madrid before the South Korean international finalized a move to Paris.

The Sun claims that Berta is still a fan of the adaptable 24-year-old and “will encourage Mikel Arteta to make room in his squad” for the player, who can play as a false nine, on either flank, or in attacking midfield.

PSG is actively trying to get rid of Lee in order to recover the £18.7 million they paid for the Korean. Offers under £17 million will not be entertained by the French champions.

Arsenal consider cut-price transfer for PSG midfielder

In last Tuesday’s Champions League semi-final first leg victory over Arsenal, he did not play as a substitute for PSG. The Sun reports that Arsenal is considering making another offer for the versatile player this summer, so they may have a closer look at him if Kang-in does play.

January reportedly piqued Mikel Arteta’s interest, and new sporting director Andrea Berta is expected to persuade him to make room in his roster for the South Korean. Two years ago, Berta was the driving force behind Atletico Madrid’s unsuccessful attempt to get Kang-in after he left Mallorca for PSG. As a huge admirer of the Incheon-born star, he anticipates a departure from the Gunners.

In the meantime, PSG is ready to recover the £18.7 million they spent on him and will not entertain any offers that fall below £17 million. The French team isn’t averse to Kang-in leaving, and a possible move might be finalized “quickly.”

Arsenal’s primary attention is undoubtedly on Wednesday’s thrilling second leg of the Champions League semi-final, even as the team looks to the summer window and bolsters its roster. The Gunners hope to overcome the 1-0 first-leg deficit when they go to Paris.
