Arsenal’s top striker target is Benjamin Sesko, a young player from RB Leipzig, as Mikel Arteta’s summer transfer ambitions get more steam. Despite being on Arteta’s shortlist last summer, the 21-year-old consented to stay in Germany for an additional year.
Sesko is anticipated to leave after making 45 appearances in all competitions in 2024–2025 and scoring 21 goals. Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Spurs are among the teams interested in signing him.
Journalist Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Germany claims that solid negotiations are already in progress between Leipzig and the Gunners regarding a possible move for the Slovenian forward.
According to the report, Arsenal’s new sporting director, Andrea Berta, is in direct communication with Leipzig director Marcel Schafer to discuss the terms of a transfer, indicating that both clubs are eager to come to an agreement early in the transfer window.
Leipzig sees Sesko as one of their top candidates to be sold because they urgently need income after missing out on the Champions League for the upcoming season.
Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany claims that Arsenal and Red Bull Leipzig are in “concrete talks” over a summer transfer for striker Benjamin Sesko. According to the journalist, Mikel Arteta has a high opinion of Sesko, and Andrea Berta has been in communication with the Bundesliga team about a transfer. The Slovenian chose to remain with Leipzig last summer after being strongly linked to a move to Arsenal.
His release clause is reportedly set to increase to €80 million (£67 million) in summer. This season, in 33 Bundesliga appearances, the 21-year-old has scored 13 goals. Arsenal’s interest in Sesko is “serious,” according to a post on the social media site X by German transfer specialist Plettenberg, who also called Arteta a big admirer.
Plettenberg also provided an update on another position that Arsenal is looking to bolster this season, stating that the team is “very active” in the winger market. The journalist brought up Ademola Lookman of Atalanta and Rodrygo of Real Madrid. Talks about possible moves are reportedly under progress with clubs and agencies.
