Arsenal Are Lacking On The Offensive End - Mikel Arteta

Mikel Arteta has admitted to his side’s attacking shortcomings after 0-0 Burnley draw.

The Gunners’ trip to Turf Moor did not go according to plan after they saw their top-four rivals, Manchester United and Chelsea drop points this weekend.

Burnely looked to have been completely nullified early on in the Sunday fixture but then soon found a way to counter the visitors. Arsenal came away with a point after coming close to conceding from Jay Rodriguez’s close range effort. Luckily, the ball bounced off the crossbar to stay ahead of the goal line.

“In periods of the game, yes I liked it, but in other periods I did not. We started to give free-kicks, throw-ins, corners away and in that they are better than us,” Arteta told BBC’s MOTD.

“I learned a lot about the resilience we showed in defence and also that we need to improve the quality of our play, be calmer and improve the end product. In the offensive part of our game, we have to do better for longer periods of the game.”

It is still clear the North Londoners are a work in progress. Arteta will have the chance to address these issues in this short two week break and even rest some of his key players. The Gunners are back in action against Newcastle United on 16 February.
