The Stade de Reims defender has put up outstanding performances this season during his 27 Ligue 1 appearances.
His partnership with Yunis Abdelhamid has been so strong that Reims have only let in 21 league goals this season, a record only bettered by Real Madrid across Europe’s top five leagues this term. This has also propelled them into challenging for a Champions League qualification in years.
Disasi is still only 22 years old and developing fast. His tall frame 1.90m sets him apart, along with his athleticism and adept decision making. Very quickly he has shown the abilities to succeed at a top-level but only under the right management.
Mikel Arteta is looking at profiles of fast, agile and technically astute defenders in order to play his preferred high line of defence. The Spaniard has already established a brand of football that fans can expect from the Gunners here onwards. Disasi is comparable to the several other players, Arsenal have got linked with – Dayot Upamecano of RB Leipzig, Even N’Dicka of Eintracht Frankfurt, Jonathan Tah of Bayer Leverkusen.
The only thing is Disasi will come at a much affordable fee of only £15m. After the latest round of events, Arsenal are bound to have very little left in their coffers to spend in the summer. Reports have already been released about how big a financial hit the North London outfit are about to take due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Arteta will be forced to scavenge for hidden talents exactly like Arsene Wenger did instead, of signing outright stars.
