The legendary Alan Smith of the Gunners has advised Arsenal to say goodbye to Gabriel Jesus with affection this summer. After joining the Emirates for £45 million from Manchester City, the Brazilian striker has had a wild ride.

In his 96 appearances in all competitions, Jesus, 28, has scored 26 goals. However, ailments have plagued his tenure as a Gunner; a devastating injury last season abruptly ended his season.

Smith now feels that the striker should be let go, particularly in light of the high-profile acquisition of former Sporting Lisbon forward Viktor Gyokeres. “I think someone like Gabriel Jesus might go given his track record with injuries,” the former Arsenal player told Metro.

He may be someone you say “thank you” to, attempt to move on, and try to obtain some cash in exchange. He may not have many chances this season, of course, with Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres.

Regarding his future at Arsenal, Jesus has previously spoken his opinions. He implied in a January speech that he was not prepared to concede defeat in his attempts to take the lead offensively for the Gunners.

He stated, “I continue to work, and everyone at the club, not just myself, can see how I work every day.” Even if playing for a major team like Arsenal is difficult, I never give up. I’m thrilled to be able to score now, and I want to keep doing so to support the squad.

Right now, it doesn’t seem probable that Jesus will be leaving in the summer. As he continues to heal from his knee injury, he is anticipated to remain out for some time. Up until the summer of 2027, Jesus is still bound by his North London contract. The Gunners play Athletic Bilbao on Saturday to wrap up their preseason before facing Manchester United the following weekend to begin their Premier League campaign.
