Arsenal are reportedly planning a move to sign Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo during the January transfer window.
The 26-year-old Cameroonian forward has been in scintillating form in the 2024-25 Premier League season, scoring six goals in eight appearances.
His performances have attracted attention from top clubs, including Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool, with Arsenal seemingly most determined to make an approach in January.
Mbeumo’s versatility is a key reason behind Arsenal’s interest. Capable of playing as a winger, central forward, or second striker, he would provide crucial depth to Mikel Arteta’s attacking options.
Arsenal have faced concerns over squad depth, particularly in the absence of key players like Bukayo Saka, who recently missed a match due to injury.
Mbeumo could fill this void, offering cover for Saka on the right while complementing other wide options like Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.
However, securing Mbeumo’s signature might be challenging. Brentford are reluctant to let go of their star player midway through the season, especially with Mbeumo’s contract running until 2025, plus an option for Brentford to extend it until 2027.
Despite this, Arsenal are expected to push for the move, aiming to bolster their squad in a title-challenging season.
With competition from other Premier League giants and Brentford’s unwillingness to sell, it remains to be seen whether Arsenal can complete the transfer.
Nevertheless, the Gunners’ interest in Mbeumo underlines their desire to add more firepower to their attack
