The attacking midfielder is set to miss out on the Europa League final in Baku due to security concerns. The political tension between Armenia and Azerbaijan has deemed the 30-year-old’s presence at Baku next Thursday dangerous.
Despite playing a major part in the Gunners’ campaign this season, Mkhitaryan could be offloaded this summer. The Arsenal hierarchy believes that the midfielder will never be able to hit his best form in the Premier League, the one he showed in the Borussia Dortmund ranks before moving to Manchester United.
This means that any offer for the Armenian will be welcomed and probably accepted by the North Londoners. Arsenal are clearly trying to get rid of contract giant, Mesut Ozil as well.
The German’s impact has dropped significantly and has quickly made him unworthy of the £350,000 he gets every week.
Mkhitaryan still has a lot of value in this market but moving Ozil out of the Emirates will be difficult. When asked if he plans on staying with the Gunners, the former Real Madrid player replied, “Absolutely. I’ve got two more years on my contract. I don’t know after that but I’ve got two years left.”
