Nicolas Pepe, whose contract with Arsenal is up for negotiation, has Besiktas really interested
Nicolas Pepe, who is not in Mikel Arteta’s plans at Arsenal and is prepared to quit the team, is reportedly of genuine interest to Besiktas at this time, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Romano adds that talks to determine the specifics of a potential deal’s structure will start soon. That transaction would very well involve a free transfer and contract termination, according to FootMercato.
According to the French publication, Pepe’s contract with Arsenal, which expires in 2024, will be terminated after conversations with his representatives. A contract termination may be the only option to make the trade happen because Besiktas wants to sign Pepe for free and Arsenal apparently wants to put the entire mess behind them.
A Saudi Arabian team in the middle of the league had expressed interest in Pepe earlier in the summer, giving rise to some optimism that he may fetch a low price. However, as soon as that plan fell through, it became more likely that Pepe would ultimately get a free ride. Pepe spent the 2022–23 season on loan with OGC Nice, but a lacklustre and injury-plagued campaign failed to spark the interest Arsenal had hoped for.
Another loan wouldn’t assist the problem because he just has one year left on his deal with north London. Pepe’s contract may be terminated by Arsenal, allowing him to join Besiktas, or he may be allowed to go for free the following summer after receiving one more year’s worth of pay.
