The Byline first the story of Arsenal’s pursuit of Kai Havertz, and The Telegraph, Arseblog, and Charles Watts confirmed the reports as accurate over the course of the past week. Then, on Wednesday, those speculations came to light when David Ornstein said that Arsenal had made an initial offer for Havertz. Despite the fact that the potential trade is still in its early stages, Ornstein claimed that Arsenal had increased their pursuit after speaking with Chelsea and Havertz personally. Ornstein noted that Havertz, who is due to reach his contract’s last two years, has admirers at Bayern Munich. Ideally, Chelsea would wish to extend his contract or move him.
For the same publication, Jordan Campbell stated that Arsenal views Havertz as a capable player who can fill a number of roles in their system. Despite having just turned 24 over the weekend, Arsenal believes Havertz offers distinct qualities to their current forwards and fits the club’s long-term strategy. Fabrizio Romano says that Arsenal and Havertz are in negotiations for a transfer, and he adds that the two parties have had fruitful discussions regarding the player’s interest in the move. According to Romano, Chelsea wants about £75 million for Havertz, but Arsenal won’t give it to them.
However, one positive from Romano’s update for the Gunners is that Real Madrid talks are presently on hold, which lessens competition for the player’s signature. Romano reiterated on his YouTube channel that although Chelsea has told Arsenal they want between £70 and £75 million, insiders familiar with the talks feel a deal may be reached for less. According to Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail, Chelsea is seeking £70 million for Havertz, while Arsenal is prepared to accept £60 million after add-ons. Personal terms won’t be a problem because Havertz is aware of the interest and want to join and Arsenal is willing to give him more than £200,000 per week.
Florian Plettenberg, a German, asserts that despite what has been reported in the English-language media, Bayern Munich is not currently planning to participate in the race. According to Plettenberg, things are moving along smoothly, making a transfer to Arsenal more likely than to Real Madrid for the German international. Nizaar Kinsella, a Chelsea correspondent for the Evening Standard, asserts that the Blues are ready to negotiate. Again, according to Kinsella, Chelsea is asking for up to £70 million, but Arsenal is hopeful that their London rivals’ financial woes would result in a lower asking price. If Chelsea wants to incorporate player sales in their records for the current fiscal year, they must do so before June 30.
They’re trying to make money after their significant spending binge this year, their poor Premier League standing, and their inability to compete in European competition. In the next weeks, we’ll learn if it results in a contract with Arsenal. Havertz, who is now travelling with Germany for the international break, contributed to one goal and one assist against Ukraine on Monday. He still has games against Poland and Colombia at home. Since Germany will host Euro 2024, their national team won’t have any qualifiers to play during the break, hence the abundance of friendlies.
