Arsenal ready to offload Kieran Tierney for £10m

Arsenal have decided to let Kieran Tierney leave this summer for just £10m, a surprising move considering the Scottish defender’s initial promise.

Tierney, who joined the Gunners from Celtic in 2019 for £25m, has seen his role diminish under Mikel Arteta. Despite a strong start, recurring injuries and stiff competition have pushed him to the sidelines.

After 170 appearances for Celtic, Tierney moved to North London and quickly endeared himself to the Arsenal faithful. However, the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jurrien Timber, combined with his own injury woes, have limited his opportunities.

Last season, he found himself on loan at Real Sociedad, where he made 20 appearances but could not secure a permanent transfer.

With two years left on his Arsenal contract, Tierney is seeking a fresh start. Although he has returned to Arsenal, it seems clear his future lies elsewhere. The Gunners are ready to accept a significant loss to move him on, setting an asking price of just £10m.

Celtic, his boyhood club, have shown interest in bringing him back to Glasgow. However, financial constraints and Tierney’s current wage demands may complicate the deal. Clubs like Newcastle United and Aston Villa, previously linked with the left-back, might also consider a move.

Tierney, in a recent talkSPORT interview, expressed uncertainty about his Arsenal future. Reflecting on his loan spell and the unpredictability of football, he acknowledged the challenges of reclaiming his place at Arsenal. A return to Celtic, where he could share duties with Greg Taylor, seems an ideal solution.
