The current talks between Chelsea and Arsenal regarding a possible transfer for Noni Madueke have taken an unexpected turn, according to a report from SportMediaSet. According to the article, the Blues are asking for Ethan Nwaneri, a highly regarded youth, in return.
That the 18-year-old midfielder might be sent to Arsenal in exchange for Madueke. Arsenal’s response, according to the same report, was to demand Madueke plus £10 million for Nwaneri, demonstrating the club’s great regard for the 2007-born talent.
Still, the whole situation seems unrealistic. When Nwaneri signed his first professional deal last year, USG was his agent. They acknowledged the transaction with the statement, “Just the beginning,” in an Instagram post. Excellent work, Ethan.
Nwaneri and Jonathan Rowe, another of their clients, were honored more recently for their inclusion in the England team that won the European Under-21 Championship. Notably, the latter quit Norwich City, his boyhood team, this summer.
After they reached an agreement that included a commitment to purchase the striker, Rowe spent the previous season on loan at Marseille. According to reports, they paid £17 million, and Norwich kept their sell-on clause.
