There are usually some dubious things that happen during the transfer window, but the most recent rumor about Arsenal leaving Italy is really alarming, even though it is doubtful. The current talks between Chelsea and Arsenal regarding a possible transfer for Noni Madueke have taken an unexpected turn, according to a report from SportMediaSet. According to the article, the Blues are asking for Ethan Nwaneri, a highly regarded youth, in return.

That the 18-year-old midfielder might be sent to Arsenal in exchange for Madueke. Arsenal’s response, according to the same report, was to demand Madueke plus £10 million for Nwaneri, demonstrating the club’s great regard for the 2007-born talent.

Still, the whole situation seems unrealistic. Even though Madueke is still a player that Arsenal is interested in, it just doesn’t fit with what we know about Arsenal’s long-term plan to hand Nwaneri, one of the most promising Hale End graduates in recent memory, to Chelsea, of all clubs. By the end of the previous season, a new contract for Nwaneri was already almost finalized, according to sources close to the team who spoke to Fresh Arsenal.

Ethan Nwaneri shares same agent as Chelsea’s undroppable as Arsenal talks continue

In contrast, Nwaneri is a member of Unique Sports Group, the agency that also represents Josh Nichols, who made his first team debut the previous season. Amid talks around Madueke, Chelsea inquired about Nwaneri’s availability. Additionally, USG represents a number of other Premier League players as agents.

Among the most prominent are Reece James, Marc Guehi, and Anthony Gordon. A number of Chelsea players, including David Datro Fofana, Djordje Petrovic, and young players Harrison Murray-Campbell, Jimmy-Jay Morgan, Leo Cardoso, and Shaun Wade, are represented by the latter.

When Nwaneri signed his first professional deal last year, USG was his agent. They acknowledged the transaction with the statement, “Just the beginning,” in an Instagram post. Excellent work, Ethan.

Nwaneri and Jonathan Rowe, another of their clients, were honored more recently for their inclusion in the England team that won the European Under-21 Championship. Notably, the latter quit Norwich City, his boyhood team, this summer.

After they reached an agreement that included a commitment to purchase the striker, Rowe spent the previous season on loan at Marseille. According to reports, they paid £17 million, and Norwich kept their sell-on clause.
