The Gunners could use a player in a swap deal

Unai Emery was appointed as Arsenal’s new manager back in May after Arsene Wenger decided to leave the club after 22 years at the end of the season. He signed a three-year deal worth £15 million.

The Gunners finished sixth in the Premier League last season and will miss the Champions League next season. The Spaniard has been charged with the task of returning the club to the European elite while challenging for major honours.

It has been a busy transfer for the Premier League giants, as the new boss has brought in new five players, reinforcing the particular areas which needed strengthening to compete for major silverware next season.

Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria, Matteo Guendouzi from Lorient, Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen, Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund and Stephan Lichtsteiner from Juventus.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Mohamed Elneny, Alex Iwobi and Granit Xhaka have already signed new long term contract extensions.

Former PSG boss has admitted that he is happy with the summer signings but hasn’t ruled out more signings if an opportunity comes before the transfer window closes.

The England side has been heavily linked with a move for Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi with the player also reportedly interested in returning back to England.

The France International joined the Spanish side from Stoke City for a fee around the region of £7 million on a four-year contract in 2015. He has been a mainstay at the club since then and won the Europa League on his debut season.

The 29 year old signed a new contract extension last season and a £35 million buy-out clause was inserted in his contract. He was a regular for the club last term, making 42 appearances in all competitions.

But the La Liga giants are willing to let him go in this transfer window only if his buy-out clause is met by his potential suitors.

Football finance expert Kieran Maguire has backed Arsenal to sign N’Zonzi and also claimed Aaron Ramsey could be used in a swap deal.

The Wales International is yet to agree a new contract with the club and has been heavily linked with a summer exit. He even admitted he is unsure about his future.

“In terms of Nzonzi, you are looking at around the same price level,” Maguire told the Daily Star.

“He has a release clause of £35m and Ramsey is in that ballpark, so it could work for both teams.

“In terms of wages, it would also work very well for Financial Fair Play, as Ramsey’s wages are roughly £10,000 less.”
