Arsenal still needs a defensive midfield player, and they are just a few days away from the unofficial transfer deadline, which could end up saving them a ton of money this summer. Arsenal has a limited amount of time left to sign Amadou Onana at a discounted price from Everton.
The Gunners are still searching for Thomas Partey’s possible replacement. According to reports, the Ghanaian international, who came to the Gunners from Atletico Madrid in 2020, will be leaving the Emirates this summer. The 31-year-old has played an important role in Arsenal’s midfield, despite being sidelined by injuries and recent inconsistent form.
Onana of Everton is seen as the perfect substitute. The 22-year-old Belgian international was strongly rumored to be traded to the Emirates in January, but the deal fell through.
Arsenal gives major transfer boost to transfer of Amadou Onana
After twice breaking the Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSRs), Everton lost six points and then two more, but the Belgium international was still able to lead his team to safety. Unfortunately for the Merseyside group, though, they might get in trouble again. Everton has to sell before the PSR deadline closes on June 30, according to The Athletic.
It may therefore be necessary for Everton to take advantage of Onana this week. With Premier League teams keeping an eye on a possible fire sale, Jarrad Branthwaite and Dominic Calvert-Lewin may also have unclear futures at Goodison Park.
