Arsenal’s summer rebuild could see a major midfield shake-up, as Thomas Partey has reportedly been offered to Turkish giants Fenerbahce, with his future at the Emirates hanging in the balance.
Partey’s Arsenal Future in Doubt as Fenerbahce Consider Free Transfer
The Ghanaian international, who has just weeks remaining on his Arsenal contract, is still locked in negotiations over a short-term extension. However, talks have stalled, and no agreement has been reached.
According to Turkish outlet Fotomac, Partey has now been offered to Fenerbahce, with new manager Jose Mourinho said to be assessing the possibility of bringing him in on a free transfer.
While Arsenal are believed to be keen to retain the 31-year-old’s experience for at least another season, the lack of progress in talks has sparked speculation that his agent may be exploring alternatives to put pressure on the North London club.
Mourinho, who is keen to make an immediate impact at Fenerbahce, could see Partey’s physicality and experience as an asset in his midfield.
Arsenal’s urgency to resolve the situation is amplified by their ongoing squad transition. With Jorginho departing, the Gunners are reportedly investing around £53 million in Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi as a long-term replacement.
Letting Partey go without securing cover would leave Mikel Arteta short on depth and leadership in midfield — a department that often dictated the pace of Arsenal’s best performances last season.
Despite injury setbacks in recent years, Partey remains a valuable player when fit, offering both defensive solidity and composure in possession.
If Arsenal can’t tie him down quickly, they risk losing an experienced, Premier League-proven asset to Europe — and potentially strengthening another club in the process.
As the Gunners also continue to chase striker Benjamin Sesko, the summer window is shaping up to be a defining one — not just for incoming talent, but for key decisions about those who may be heading out.
