Arsenal could soon welcome Brazilian midfielder Arthur Melo in a surprise swap deal with Juventus, according to recent transfer rumors.
After a frustrating spell at Liverpool, Arthur might return to the Premier League, bringing his revitalized form to the Emirates Stadium.
Arthur’s stint at Liverpool was marred by injuries, limiting him to a mere 13 minutes of play. Despite his potential, the Brazilian never found his footing under Jurgen Klopp.
However, a loan spell at Fiorentina last season has breathed new life into his career. Arthur played 33 times for the Italian club, avoiding injury and showing signs of the form that once made him a highly-touted talent.
Mikel Arteta, a known admirer of Arthur, could leverage Juventus’s interest in Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior to facilitate the deal.
Kiwior, valued at around £17 million, has not made a significant impact at Arsenal, making him a suitable candidate for a swap. With Arthur valued similarly, a direct player exchange could be on the cards.
Arthur himself feels rejuvenated and ready to contribute. “This is the best moment of my career,” he stated recently.
“Physically, it’s been the season that I’ve played the most minutes in over all these years.
Also, with much more experience under my belt after having played in several leagues and teams. It’s a mix, mentally and in terms of maturity, I feel phenomenal.”
Arsenal, having spent heavily in recent transfer windows, might benefit from this swap deal. With Thomas Partey’s future uncertain, Arthur could provide valuable depth and experience in the midfield.
The coming weeks will reveal if Arteta’s gamble on Arthur pays off, potentially bolstering Arsenal’s squad for the upcoming season.
