Arsenal can sign Dayot Upamecano from RB Leipzig for £53m next summer.

Dayot has been impressing with his performances in Bundesliga. And Arsenal has established him as a target to replace Laurent Koscielny.

Arsenal tried to sign the 20-year-old defender this summer but their £53m offer was knocked back.

However, Gunners can sign him now because his £89m release clause will drop to £71m next summer according to the Sports Bild.

Arsenal signed David Luiz this summer, but he has been a bit disappointing for Arsenal and for the fans.  Arsenal also signed 18-year-old CB William Saliba from Saint-Etienne but loaned him back to Ligue 1 side.

Growing defensive concerns means Arsenal will look to reinforce their defense. And Dayot Upamecano fits perfectly. He is young and solid at the back.

Young defender’s contract is expiring in 2021 and hence if he doesn’t sign a contract extension Arsenal will get an upper hand in negotiations and according to L’Equipe, the North London side can get him for £53m next summer as Leipzig will be forced to sell him.

Meanwhile, Bundesliga side is trying to hold onto their star defender. They want to remove the release clause.

Dayot has made just 2 appearances in Bundesliga this season as he tries to recover from a knee injury. He missed almost the whole second half of the 2018-19 season due to this injury.
