Mikel Arteta has revealed that Odegaard picked up an injury issue against Aston Villa.
Arsenal face a huge blow ahead of the important 2nd leg of Champions League quarterfinal fixture against Bayern. The Gunners skipper Martin Odegaard is likely to miss out this game.
The Norwegian picked up an injury issue in the 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa. He made a start in Sunday’s meeting with Aston Villa. He was replaced by Emile Smith Rowe in the 79th minute.
When he left the ground, Arsenal went on to concede two late goals to lose their first game in the Premier League this year. It also hurt their chances in the title race.
The decision to withdraw Odegaard may have raised few questions. However, Mikel Arteta has revealed that he picked up an injury issue during the game. He spoke to reporters, “He was feeling something. He could not continue.”
Arsenal boss will be desperate to have him available for the crucial Champions League game against Bayern. He has missed just three games due to injury. The Norway international has scored 10 goals and provided seven assists in 41 appearances across all competitions this season.
