The Express claims that Arsenal have expressed a strong desire to sign Crystal Palace winger, Wilfried Zaha after getting dismantled by the Ivory Coast international last week at home.
It is true that the Gunners have long been keeping an eye on the former Manchester United player along with a number of other Premier League sides. Almost every English heavyweight would like to have such a gritty and skilful offensive threat in their side after the performances he has put in for the Eagles season after season.
Zaha is a massive South London star who has enjoyed a terrific period with the Eagles. Palace values him at £75m now.
Just to put things into comparison, the 26-year-old was thought to be worth £45-£50m just a season back when he chose to stick with Roy Hodgson’s side.
The Gunners need an attacking talisman with the creative skill to break defences. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are world-class players of their own but they are deemed almost useless without support from their teammates.
Arsenal are missing one of the most important components which constitutes a football teams attack i.e., a wideman. Alex Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan have filled in from the wide areas when called upon but neither of them has the cutting edge ability to be effective from there.
Zaha could be the man to lead Arsenal’s attack just like Alexis Sanchez did a couple of seasons back. But any team would be wary of paying such a huge sum for the Eagles player due to his on-field discipline.
