The latest reports from Italy claim that Napoli are close to finalising a deal for Arsenal goalkeeper, David Ospina.
The 30-year-old is set to stay at Naples after his season-long stint with the Serie A outfit. There was a clause included in the previous agreement that Napoli would be forced to sign him for €3.5m if he played 25 games.
The Italians strategically dropped him from the lineup after 24 games to have the freedom of making their own decision. After the season-end, they are happy to activate the clause, nearer to the fee that was agreed before.
Talks were raised in the Gunners ranks of possibly seeing Ospina back at the club next term. Petr Cech’s retirement will definitely open up the number 2 spot for the Colombian but Unai Emery is eager to look elsewhere.
This could also mean that Arsenal academy products, Emiliano Martinez and Dejan Lliev could get an opportunity to finally shine for the North London outfit. Otherwise, Arsenal have been linked with plenty of names for this summer.
Valencia’s Neto seems to be a prime target and the club has made inquiries about Inter Milan’s Andrei Radu as well. At one point, Gianluigi Donnarumma’s name got thrown around but at £50m he is an unrealistic target
