Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi is closing n on joining Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
He spent most of his years with the Basque club after joining Real Sociedad in 2011.
The 24-year-old midfielder has established a strong foothold in the Spanish national squad.
He signed a new deal with the Spanish club last year and his contract runs until June 2027.
However, Arsenal are prepared to pay the release clause of €60m in the contract to make Zubimendi their first signing of the summer window.
Earlier, Barcelona have also shown interest in the midfielder but they have cooled their interest due to his high price tag.
Zubimendi has made 138 appearances for the Basque club since his first-team debut in 2019 and contributed to four goals and five assists in the process.
He was linked with a move in January but the Spaniard didn’t want to leave Sociedad.
Earlier he said to Sport: “Rumours, rumours. Because I told my representative that I didn’t want to listen to anything, much less in winter.
“Leaving Real Sociedad behind with the season that we’re having would be illogical. Here I’m very happy.”
