Arsenal are reportedly prepared to make their first bid for Norwich City’s Emi Buendia.
Reports emerged about The Gunners’ interest in the Argentine last January.
Mikel Arteta’s approach for the midfielder did not seem promising at the time and the club backed out. They instead brought in Martin Odegaard on loan who seems certain to head back to Real Madrid after this campaign.
Arsenal have kept their sights on Buendia ever since and monitored his progress. The Cannaries attacker finished the Championship campaign with 15 goals and 17 assists in 41 appearances. He is tipped to lead Arsenal’s creativity next season with an offer worth £40m deemed to be good enough.
Meanwhile, Stan Kroenke has not wiped out the takeover threat from Spotify owner, Daniel Ek. Arsenal great, Dennis Bergkamp who has partnered up with Ek to bring their first offer to the table revealed that the fight is not over yet.
The Dutchman told Voetbal International, “We can’t force anyone to sell.
“I understand that, in addition to that offer, Daniel has now reached out twice to Josh Kroenke and his bankers. Whatever Kroenke’s intentions are, it would be good if we at least have a conversation with each other. In the interest of the club.
“Regardless, Daniel is not a quitter and neither are we football boys. We are here to stay. The crazy thing is that we cannot imagine how the current players feel. Because we have always played for the championship ourselves.
“We do know how the fans feel. We have already had a meeting with a supporter delegation. We also sense more and more enthusiasm on their side. That is very stimulating.”
