Arsenal are reportedly stepping up their pursuit of Emi Buendia this summer.
After a failed transfer attempt in January, it seems like The Gunners are back for the Argentine.
Norwich City claimed the Championship title this season with Buendia as their attacking talisman. The 24-year-old grabbed 15 goals and 16 assists across 41 appearances. He has ranked first in the English second division in terms of chances created, shots taken and dribbles attempted as well.
Buendia mainly plays on the right for The Canaries but he is capable of playing in the number ten role. Mikel Arteta badly wants to add more dynamism and creativity to his attack. He needs to improve the team’s performance for next season which would mean adding more quality talent.
Buendia has not exactly replicated his Championship numbers in the Premier League but he did impress in the 2019/20 campaign. He scored once and laid out 8 assists that season. Now, he looks more refined and ready to make the step up to a bigger club. Reports claim that Norwich City would demand £40m for his services.
The Argentine has earned a call-up to the senior national team. Not all fans are backing this transfer but Buendia is undoubtedly the type of player the club needs right now.
