Aubameyang is understood to have taken a financial cut in order.
Arsenal have confirmed the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after the striker’s move to Barcelona. The Gabon international is set to join Barcelona.
Aubameyang has not played for Arsenal after being sacked from the captaincy in December. The Gunners were keen to move the forward on following his recent exile at the Emirates.
The North London club have now confirmed that they have agreed to terminate the player’s contract ‘by mutual constant’. He is free to complete a move to the La Liga giants in a deal that will save Arsenal around £25m in wages.
The 32-year-old is understood to have taken a financial cut in order to facilitate the move, considering Barcelona’s financial situation.
Aubameyang will become Barcelona’s third signing from the Premier League this month, after signing Ferran Torres and Adama Traore.
