Looks like Torreira’s injury is as bad as anyone would have thought.

Arsenal have confirmed that Lucas Torreira has ended up with a severely fractured ankle after he fell on the pitch during the clash with Portsmouth on Monday. It was so severe that he had to be put on a stretcher before strapping on an oxygen mask on him, as he was carried off the pitch.

However, Arteta had spoken at full-time saying that everyone will have to wait for a few days, that they were “awaiting further specialist reviews which will determine [Torreira’s] recovery plan” before the injury could be diagnosed.

Now that the diagnosis it out, the next question comes up. Will Torreira be able to play anytime soon?

Unfortunately, it’s a no. This is a fractured ankle whose recovery time is at least a couple of months. It is definitely bad luck for Arteta, who could have desperately used Torreira as a midfielder in the upcoming matches in the Premier League and FA Cup.

We expect Torreira to be out for the season now. However, there is some good news of a return. Kieran Tierney has been back in training for some time now, and he might be making a return on the pitch – soon.

Meanwhile, we hope Torreira recovers soon – and won’t be such a long drawn recovery.
