According to the latest reports, Arsenal are eyeing a move for Ruben Neves.
Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly involved in talks with The Gunners over a potential transfer this summer.
Neves has built a solid reputation in the Premier League. He has been key to Wolves’ resurgence to top-flight status and recent success. Operating from a deep midfield role, the Portuguese international was a mainstay in Nuno Santo’s team.
But now that the club is going through a managerial change, Wolves are open to selling the 24-year-old. They value him at £34m which fits nicely into Arsenal’s budget.
Mikel Arteta is planning a total revamp of his squad this summer. That means adding more creativity, more depth and overall quality. Problem is, he will likely have limited funds to work with.
Arsenal recently missed out on the signing of Emiliano Buendia to Aston Villa. While Edu Gaspar is still pursuing other targets to cover that role, Neves remains a top target. He will able to partner Thomas Partey in midfield and take over Granit Xhaka’s role.
Xhaka has been linked to AS Roma. Apparently, Jose Mourinho rates the player and wants him at the Stade Olimpico next season. Negotiations over a sale are currently ongoing.
