Arsenal have been dealt a serious injury blow to their defensive line.
David Luiz was suffering from a lot of pain after clashing with Eintracht Frankfurt’s Goncalo Pacienca in the 1-2 defeat at the Emirates.
The Brazilian was not at all comfortable and had to be taken off after 15 minutes. Watching the injury, Martin Keown told BT Sport, “It looks innocuous. Maybe he’s got one in the ribs. You just have to trust him that he can’t carry on. His head had gone at this point and that’s a worry. I think it’s best to get him off. He’s one of those players who needs to be at 100 per cent.”
Josh Hartson also added, “They can actually be quite painful. I got this one. That sharp edge of your rib, if it gets into your rib, it can be a nasty one.
“There’s no real healing process. Martin says he would’ve definitely stayed on but I was saying, you get an elbow right in the rib, it can be quite sore. He could be out for quite a while. There’s no sort of treatment with your rib. It’s got to heal naturally. That could mean he could be out for a few weeks.”
