After losing favour at Arsenal, Kieran Tierney might transfer this summer, and it’s possible that his old team Celtic will receive a sizeable sell-on fee
The left-back has only made four Premier League starts this season due to his struggles to earn consistent first-team chances at the Emirates.
The Scotland international is allegedly a target for Newcastle United in the upcoming transfer window, with a transfer fee of up to £30 million being suggested.
If Tierney is sold for the stated price, Celtic, who included a 15% sell-on clause in the £25 million agreement that brought him to Arsenal in 2019, could earn up to £4.5 million. Tierney’s plans won’t likely be determined until the end of the season, despite rumours about his future. Arsenal’s imminent future at the club is still up in the air as they strive to win their first Premier League championship since 2003.
Newcastle, however, is eager to sign the defender and may submit an offer during the upcoming transfer season. Tierney’s choice to leave Arsenal may have been influenced significantly by his lack of playing time there. He has played for the Gunners 25 times this season, but only four of those outings have been starts under Mikel Arteta.
Oleksandr Zinchenko’s arrival has caused Tierney to fall down the pecking order, with the Ukrainian being favoured at left-back. Even though Takehiro Tomiyasu and Jakub Kiwior are Arteta’s two backup options, the Gunners might be reluctant to trade Tierney to Newcastle if they continue to establish themselves as fellow top-four contenders.
