Shakhtar are open to accepting an offer worth £56million for Mudryk.
According to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs, Arsenal could lure Shakhtar Donetsk star Mykhaylo Mudryk to the Emirates Stadium by putting a £56million offer on the table.
The North London club are currently sitting at the top of the Premier League table, five points ahead of Man City. Manager Mikel Arteta will be handed an opportunity to boost his squad during the winter transfer window.
As per the reports of The Athletic, Mudryk’s price tag has risen to close to £88million following a string of impressive performances during the first half of the season.
The Ukraine international is being monitored by top Premier League clubs including Arsenal, Manchester City, Brentford, and Newcastle United. Paris Saint-Germain and Bayer Leverkusen also made approaches during the summer.
Everton failed with a £25.9million bid, which was rejected out of hand, during the summer.
Arsenal are on the driver’s seat and they are confident to take the winger’s signature. The Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed the Gunners held ‘very positive contacts’ with his representatives earlier this year.
Mudryk also said he ‘can’t say no’ to a winter move to the Gunners, increasing optimism over a potential deal at the Emirates Stadium.
Jacobs believes Shakhtar are open to accepting an offer worth £56million for Mudryk, which is a significantly lower figure than they have been publicly quoting.
Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT: “There is some gamesmanship going on here. Publicly, Shakhtar are starting to say €100million but, privately, I’m told by sources at the club that €60-65million is a viable number that they might consider selling Mudryk for.
“That’s good news from Arsenal and other suitors’ perspective that his price has risen but not quite to €100million, at least not privately despite what Shakhtar may say in public.
“We wait and see whether clubs feel that is market value or whether they try and play hardball. If they do leave it until the summer, there’s a chance that the price will go down a little bit further.”
The 21-year-old winger will have worked his way onto the radar of numerous clubs, particularly after finding the back of the net every 173 minutes in the Champions League group stage.
