Arsenal are reportedly considering a January approach for Chelsea winger Pedro Neto as Mikel Arteta looks to address his squad‘s attacking deficiencies, according to Caught Offside.

Could Pedro Neto Be the Answer to Arsenal’s Left-Wing Problem?

The Gunners enjoyed a productive summer transfer window with five permanent signings, but their forward recruitment raised eyebrows.

Christos Tzolis arrived as the only attacking addition, a surprising decision given the departures of Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli from the left flank.

Tzolis has shown promise in his early Arsenal career, but his limitations were exposed during the recent 1-0 victory over Aston Villa.

The Greek winger struggled when tightly marked, suggesting Premier League defences may have already found a way to neutralise his threat.

Arsenal’s summer ambitions were much grander. Morgan Rogers emerged as their primary left-wing target, but Chelsea hijacked the deal with a staggering £117 million offer.

The Gunners then explored a move for Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Junior, only for the Brazilian to commit his future to Los Blancos with a new six-year contract.

Julian Alvarez of Atletico Madrid was also considered, but the Argentine made clear his preference for Barcelona, forcing Arsenal to abandon their pursuit.

Neto has now emerged as a potential solution, with Manchester City and Al-Hilal also monitoring the Portuguese international.

Chelsea’s hierarchy reportedly expect a package between £60 million and £69 million for the 26-year-old.

However, significant questions surround whether Neto represents the right fit. Primarily a right winger, Arsenal already boast Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke and Max Dowman in that position.

While Neto can operate on the left flank, his record there is mediocre just 11 goals and 11 assists from 82 appearances.

At 26, Neto is unlikely to significantly improve his output in an unfamiliar role. Arsenal’s genuine weakness remains the left-wing position, and they would be wise to pursue a more natural solution rather than a square peg in a round hole.
