Arsenal would struggle to find a suitor for Nicolas Pepe in the summer.

The winger arrived at the Emirates Stadium in a deal worth £72m in the summer of 2019 and has been nothing short of a failure.

The 27-year-old Ivory Coast international came with huge expectations due to the £140k-a-week wage he was earning.

His time at Arsenal has been marred by inconsistency and was loaned out to the French side Nice for this season.

Before his arrival in the Emirates, Pepe scored 37 goals and provided 18 assists in 79 games for Lille which got the Arsenal fans excited.

But Arsenal may have to resort to paying off a portion of the player’s contract to offload him this summer.

Earlier manager Mikel Arteta said: “I think Nico has tried to deal with that [the price tag] in the best possible way, he is not responsible for the price a club pays for him. He has tried everything, his attitude and the way he is, is just phenomenal. You just have to meet the person because you just love him for the way he is.”

His transfer to Arsenal has been a bit of a disaster according to several pundits and fans.
