Arsenal are shifting their focus towards Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke as their pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres wanes.
The North London club has already bolstered their squad with key signings this summer, including turning David Raya’s loan into a permanent deal and bringing in Riccardo Calafiori.
Additionally, the impending arrival of Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad promises to further strengthen Mikel Arteta’s side.
However, Arteta is keen to add a new striker to his roster. Despite having Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz, and the versatile Leandro Trossard at his disposal, the need for a prolific forward remains. Eddie Nketiah’s uncertain future at the club adds to the urgency.
Initially, Arsenal targeted Viktor Gyokeres, who had a stellar season at Sporting Lisbon, netting 43 goals and providing 15 assists.
However, the financial demands surrounding Gyokeres, including high wages and significant agent fees, have made the deal less attractive.
This financial hurdle has redirected Arsenal’s attention to Dominic Solanke. The Bournemouth striker, who scored an impressive 19 goals in the Premier League last season, is seen as a viable alternative.
Solanke, who joined Bournemouth from Liverpool for £19 million in 2019, is reportedly open to a move if the right offer comes along. Arsenal are ready to invest around £65 million to secure his services.
Arsenal face competition for Solanke’s signature, with Tottenham Hotspur also expressing interest. As the transfer window edges closer to its deadline, the race to sign Solanke could heat up.
Arsenal’s pursuit of the Bournemouth striker highlights their intent to bolster their attacking options and challenge for top honors in the upcoming season.
