Arsenal have reportedly told Matteo Guendouzi that they won’t be selling him this summer.
It has been a week to forget for the Frenchman as he was dropped in the 2-0 win over Southampton following a hostile incident in the Brighton loss.
Guendouzi was caught on camera, grabbing Neal Maupay’s throat post the 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Seagulls. Fortunately, he did not enter the referee’s books and escaped any sort of fine or match suspension. Mikel Arteta and the Arsenal board were not too happy with the situation, especially after watching his on-pitch blowouts numerous times in the past.
Guendouzi even had a falling out with Arteta during Arsenal’s training camp in Dubai, midway through this season. He clawed his way back into the side but faces the wrath of long absence once again. Supporters have polarizing opinions of the 20-year-old. Some say he is far too hot-headed for the Premier League but not many can deny his footballing talent.
If Arsenal can nurture Guendouzi’s heated personality, they will have a real talent to man their midfield lines for years. Or else, they can take the easy route and sell him for a neat profit. ESPN states that the midfielder has been let off by the Arsenal board and told he can stay.
