Arsenal defender Cedric Soares was expected to make in January.

The 32-year-old’s contract with the Gunners is coming to an end this summer.

The veteran defender has struggled for game time over the past two seasons and was expected to make a move this January transfer window.

The right-back has been barely used by Mikel Arteta, with Arsenal considering options for the outcasted defender.

Cedric spent the last season on loan at Fulham but the Cottagers refused to sign the defender on a permanent deal.

Turkish club Besiktas reportedly intensified their interest in his signature and pundit Fabrizio Romano also hinted that Cedric could be set for a move this winter.

Rivals Galatasaray were also interested to find a replacement for Sacha Boey, who joined Bayern in the window.

But Cedric decided to stay put at Arsenal and is looking to leave at the end of the season when his £65,000-a-week contract expires.

The Turkish transfer window remains open until Friday, but a move isn’t likely.

Mikel Arteta will be keen to hold Cedric as an experienced option at the back as they are challenging for the league trophy this season.

The Gunners are currently short in numbers at the back, so having an experienced defender like Cedric would be a blessing to the squad.
