Arsenal’s Shkodran Mustafi could complete a shock move to Juventus before the European transfer window ends.
Moving the German out of the Emirates has proved to be a difficult task but Juventus’ recent defensive woes could prove to fortunate for Arsenal.
The Bianconeri have been struck heavily by the ACL injury to one of their top defenders, Giorgio Chiellini. The centre-half is expected to be out for the entire 2019/20 season which would leave Maurizio Sarri without the optimal depth in that particular position.
Juventus still has new signings, Matthijs de Ligt and Merih Demiral along with seniors, Daniele Rugani and Leonardo Bonucci in the club lineup. In an ideal scenario, the club should have 5 top centre-halfs to compete for multiple trophies in a single season.
As ambitious as Juve naturally are, they naturally would like to keep all their positions covered. Reports claim they have contacted Mustafi about a move to Turin since he is obviously on the market for sale.
The Old Lady are also looking into Liverpool’s Dejan Lovren, Bayern Munich’s Jerome Boateng and Al-Duhail’s Medhi Benatia.
Mustafi was previously approached by AS Roma but Arsenal’s outlandish asking price prompted them to sign Chris Smalling from Manchester United, instead. Hopefully, the Gunners can get rid of the 27-year-old through this final attempt even if it is on loan.
